So believe it or not I'm actually doing reasonably well on my new years resolutions. (You can check them out here and Natasha's are here.) I read my one book this month and have already started on the second AND I've been working out.
I joined a yoga gym. Just a one month trial, but it's a start. It's Bikram hot yoga and boy is it hard. The first time I tried yoga years ago, I hated it. I was bored, it felt like we just help downward dog forever, I wanted to move and sprint. But after a few years of practice and time away from sprinting, I've come to love yoga. Not as some kind of spiritual inner peace peace practice, but just as a form of fitness it's fantastic. This is the first time I've actually ever done hot yoga but i'm slowly becoming a fan. None of the moves are super physically demanding because of the heat, it's mostly deep stretching with some strength moves mixed in.
It's been so good for me. It's crazy how much one healthy decision can carry over into the rest of your life. I work out a few times and I find myself craving more vegetables and wanting to walk the dog more often, and I feel better already. I can't wait until I'm actually in shape again.
I also read my first book of the month for January. I read the first book in the Song of Ice and Fire series, better known as Game of Thrones. I'm pretty much obsessed and kind of geek out anytime I find a fellow fan who wants to talk GoT with me. It's such a good story. I love that I can never predict what's going to happen because it's not one of those stories where you know the good guy is going to win in the end, not in GoT. I'm so anxious for the next season to premier on HBO. My goal is actually to finish the fourth book by April before the season starts, but that's thousands of pages of reading so we'll see.
