Three Weeks Until Thanksgiving

So here's the part where we say what we're thankful for. Every November you see a few people try to post once a day something that they're thankful for and it's usually all the same: their children, spouse, parents, pets, health, etc.

Don't get me wrong those are important things to be thankful for, we're thankful for them as well (and we'll get to that soon.) But today we wanted to think about something small and unexpected that we're thankful for. Something little that we're grateful is in our lives.

Sarah - For me it's the doors between our bedrooms. Our house has these giant pocket doors between our two bedrooms that take up almost half the wall. It's a little thing that I normally wouldn't give a second thought to but then I realized how much better they actually make my everyday life.

Who hasn't at one point wanted to share one giant bedroom with their sister? I really love it that we can both be sitting in our rooms doing whatever we're up to and just chat without having to walk around the whole house. It also makes our little apartment feel bigger and lighter. And then when we need some privacy we can always just shut the doors and be by ourselves.

When we got the apartment the previous tenants had a bed against the doors so they we're never open. So it wasn't something I was thinking about when we rented the unit. It's nice when little unexpected things like that make your day happier.

Natasha - Skype, I've had an account for a few years but never used it until recently. My boyfriend Brad is far far away in Virginia for military training. He has gone away before and its been much stricter, we could only write letters and talk on the weekends.

This time around where he is staying is different, I get to talk to him  almost every night! Neither of us are super chatty, were both pretty chill. Because of this our phone conversations were always short.  But since he has his laptop with him I suggested we try Skype so we would get to see each other. Now I think its the greatest thing ever!

Seeing someone while you talk to them is so much more like a real conversation that you would have in person. Any issue I have with talking on the phone is not an issue with Skype. And I can't forget the little smiley faces on Skype, I can send Brad a little teddy bear that gives him a hug, its the cutest thing.

We also wanted to share a little thankfulness wisdom with you. Our church just started a new series called 'Thanks' and this was one thing we got out of it:

It's not joy that makes us grateful. It's gratitude that makes us joyful.
